Twice a week parents of toddlers, from 18 months to 3 years of age, bring
their children to Anchor Center for Blind Children for early intervention for 1
1/2 hours to participate in a child centered playgroup. The program
incorporates a new story and song each month. For each story/song, several
categories of learning are planned, including; visual skills/literacy, motor
skills, orientation and mobility, communication/music/sensory/socialization and
feeding experiences. A transdisciplinary approach allows providers and parents
to look at "the whole child" and how their vision loss affects their leaning in
an adapted setting. Any questions regarding Toddler Program or Story of the
month can be directed to Cathy Smyth, TSVI at extension 16.
